how to support the fight against breast cancer just without leaving the couch
Believe me when I say this, we are very very serious about treating people like a friend here at amika. And what do you do if a friend is in need? Even though it’s small acts of kindness. You HELP!
One of the causes that’s very close to our hearts is breast cancer awareness. According to the Breast Cancer Now Charity, “Many people will lose either some or all of their hair as a result of treatment for breast cancer. People who have chemotherapy will often experience hair loss.” We feel it with many cancer patients, and believe hair is an integral part of one’s identity and confidence. It causes tremendous anxiety + insecurity when lost.
At amika, we have specifically designed a limited edition tools set – Think Pink. It is inspired by pink power + breast cancer awareness. Pink is not only the color for breast cancer awareness, it’s also a life-affirming color that represents hope and the power of cancer patients and survivors. Through this dedicated tools set, we hope to encourage all amika friends to “think pink” – raise awareness, help sharing facts (early detection is the best protection!) and empower one and other through the magic of hair styling.
But, the fight doesn’t just stop here. It might just be a small step each and every one of us made, but together we can make a difference. That’s why we’ve summed up other NGOs and wonderful companies that are helping with this cause, and ways you can get involved without even leaving your house:

We dare you to name something that’s more like a friend to you except amika and …… a bra! A bra is always close to your heart and there to support you! Part of the sale of selected pink bras at Her Own Words goes to HKCF for breast cancer works and support.

Hong Kong Breast Cancer Foundation (HKBCF) organizes annual walkathons and has over 2000 participants every year. Due to epidemic crisis and social distancing restriction this year, HKBCF has moved the fundraising event online this year, the virtual event gives all fitness enthusiasts a chance to exercise everywhere (yep, even on your couch!) for a good cause. Join HERE.
If you’re a breast cancer survivor or healthcare professional, we strongly encourage you to participate in the breast cancer research conducted by HKBCF. It collects data and information of local breast cancer cases to better analyze and formulate a comprehensive insight for further study. Simply register and log your information HERE.
To raise awareness + advocate pink power, we offer special Pinktober promotion on all things pink! Dressing in pink does not only limit to clothes and makeup, you can also style your hair in pink using our dedicated pink tools and may some cute pink headscarf or clips. Let’s go pink for a good cause!
